Larta Institute Opens Round 2 of the Larta Impact Fund
July 1, 2026 – 01:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time
Los Angeles, CA — Larta Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit accelerating science and technology innovation for a sustainable planet, today announced that the second round of the Larta Impact Fund is open for applications.
The Larta Impact Fund is building the infrastructure that enables promising health solutions to reach underserved communities — addressing the persistent commercialization and capital gaps that keep effective innovations from reaching the people who need them most. Its initial focus is healthcare: advancing equity, expanding access to care, and improving outcomes for underserved communities across Los Angeles County.
The Fund is seeded by $1.8 million in first-loss capital from the State of California through the California Jobs First (CJF) initiative — an anchor investment designed to attract additional philanthropic and private capital into high-impact healthcare innovation, and aligned with the State’s Economic Blueprint to drive regional impact.
The Fund also serves as a platform for philanthropic and impact investors seeking to deploy catalytic capital alongside the State of California in support of scalable, community-centered innovation.
“The Larta Impact Fund represents a natural evolution of our mission,” said Rohit Shukla, CEO and Founder of Larta Institute. “For decades, we have helped innovators translate breakthrough science into practical solutions. This Fund allows us to pair our commercialization expertise with catalytic capital. The Fund intends to help companies reach the next stage of growth while demonstrating and validating solutions which deliver meaningful impact in the communities that need it most.”
Round 2 offers $75,000–$250,000 in non-dilutive, low-interest loan financing to companies in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, labtech, and digital health addressing healthcare challenges in underserved populations. The loan is restricted to companies based in Los Angeles County, or companies based elsewhere in the U.S. that will invest Larta Impact Fund capital into Los Angeles County.
Participation in this funding cycle is open to companies across Larta’s network — alumni, current Heal.LA cohort companies, and healthcare innovators who have not previously worked with Larta — with priority given to those that are revenue-generating or approaching commercialization stage with demonstrated progress toward market deployment.
In addition to financing, companies selected through this round will gain access to additional commercialization and development support at no cost through Larta’s Heal.LA platform, including strategic advisory services, regulatory pathway guidance, and connections across Larta’s innovation ecosystem.
Applications are open now through July 20, 2026.
