VP Business and Technology Strategy, Ceramic Materials
Mark received his Ph.D. in Inorganic/Materials Chemistry from Queen Mary College, London in 1984 followed by two post-doctoral positions in catalysis (University of Guelph and Indiana University). Mark held a faculty position in the Chemistry Department at the University of New Mexico from 1988-1998 focused on Materials Chemistry where he received the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Teacher Scholar Award and the Corday-Morgan Medal, was the 10th most-highly cited Materials Scientist worldwide for the period 1990-1994, published ~250 academic papers, and authored/edited several books. Mark left UNM and co-founded a start-up company, Superior MicroPowders, in electronic and energy materials, which was subsequently purchased by Cabot Corporation in 2003. Mark went on to become Global Technology Director in Cabot Performance Materials, Boston, MA and, in 2016, joined Saint Gobain as VP of R&D for Ceramic Materials and is now VP of Business and Technology Strategy focusing on identifying and developing early stage opportunities in new markets. Mark holds >125 issued US Patents.
