Speaker:

Hee-suk (Hee) Jung
Head of Investment
SK Gas

I can offer tech startups equity financing and also support them with geographic expansion. Startups can also work with an international player like us to utilize our international network as their testbeds and expose themselves to a greater chance for exit.”

Hee Jung

Hee is one of the leaders with a distinguished entrepreneurial mind, always seeking new business opportunities. Since joining SK group (headquartered in South Korea diversified conglomerate) in 2008, as an expert in supply chain and business development, he successfully executed global projects in North/South Americas, Gulf Countries, and Asia. SK has the largest oil and gas business in South Korea and had the largest refinery complex in the world at one point in time. However, SK is now determined to transition to sustainable energy, and Hee moved to Silicon Valley in mid-2018 to identify clean technology innovators.

Hee leads the corporate venture capital (CVC) arm of SK gas as the head of investment and he makes investments in Clean/Climate Tech, Construction Tech, and BioScience startups, and also supports project financing. Focused stages of companies are from Series A all the way to pre-IPO and fund size would differ between $1M and $40M depending on the stage of the startup. Hee enjoys CVC because it takes a long time to develop a customer-focused technology and the corporation may not have the necessary manpower to build it.

Hee works with several SK affiliates within the group to discover new technology and business model then connect them with SK affiliates to create and motivate digital transformation and new opportunities.
