TCarta Marine: Mapping the ocean safely. Using satellites to hydrographically survey the ocean.

Mapping the ocean safely. Using satellites to hydrographically survey the ocean.

Understanding our world, and specifically, oceans that cover nearly 70 percent of our planet, is fundamental to our understanding of the effects of climate change. Monitoring the health of our marine environments, which are sirens to alert us to the deleterious impact of a changing climate, is the key to expanding and enhancing that understanding so we can start to reverse the continuing cycle of decline in ocean health.

Using space-based sensors, TCarta Marine creates a 3D elevation model of coastal and inland water depths. Using the Company’s innovative technology to deploy satellites to hydrographically survey the ocean reduces the risks and limitations of marine and aerial-based hydrographic survey methods and practices.

Larta has worked to help the Company with their commercialization efforts, in particular helping with regulatory strategy and patentability, since they received an NSF award in 2018 and we continue our joint efforts with their most recent award from NOAA.

Contributing to global ocean-focused initiatives, including Seabed 2030 and the United Nations’ program Decade of Ocean Health, TCarta Marine is highly engaged in the ongoing global collaboration to map the entire ocean floor by 2030.
