Prosperity Market: Not your average farmer’s market

Transforming ecosystems through agriculture, food access, nutrition education, and community.

Prosperity Market addresses the stark disparity between California’s status as the leading agricultural producer and Los Angeles’ high levels of food insecurity. With 2.6 million Angelenos struggling to access healthy, affordable food, and only 91 grocery stores serving a population of 820,000 in South Los Angeles, the need for intervention is clear. Lack of access to nutritious food contributes to health issues like diabetes and obesity, particularly affecting black and brown communities, which are also disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

Prosperity Market offers a solution by operating as a mobile market, uniquely positioned to tackle food insecurity in the community. By focusing on the local food system and providing a platform for black farmers and food producers, the company not only addresses immediate needs, but also creates jobs, strengthens the local economy, and promotes equity. With a commitment to creating an inclusive and sustainable solution, Prosperity Market aims to make a positive impact on both the community and the broader food system.
